Service Description
The First Aid at Work (FAW) course is the most comprehensive first aid training for the workplace. It covers various CPR and first aid skills and equips first aiders with the knowledge to apply first aid to specific injuries and illnesses. The First Aid at Work course is suitable for all industries and enables employers to meet HSE and HSENI requirements. After completing an RLSS UK FAW course, candidates receive a Level 3 First Aid at Work qualification. RLSS UK’s First Aid at Work training is CIMSPA endorsed, which means it has been quality-assured by CIMSPA. RLSS UK is an active member of the First Aid Awarding Organisation Forum (FAAOF) whose remit is to collaborate on best practice. The First Aid at Work (FAW) course comprises practical work and theoretical classroom work, as well as a practical and multiple-choice theory assessment of CPR and first aid. A range of subjects are covered within the First Aid at Work course, including: - Understanding the role and responsibilities of a first aider - How to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally - How to manage a casualty who is in shock - How to assess an incident - How to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking - How to manage a casualty with a minor injury - How to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally - How to manage a casualty with external bleeding - How to conduct a secondary survey - How to administer first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds - How to provide first aid to a casualty with a suspected major illness - How to administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles, and joints - How to administer first aid to a casualty with an eye injury - How to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries - How to administer first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning - How to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries - How to administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis The First Aid at Work (FAW) qualification expires three years after the date on the certificate. Candidates must re-qualify before the expiry date of their existing qualification. Candidates must be a minimum of 16-years-old at the time of taking the First Aid at Work assessment, and no prior first aid knowledge is required.
